Our NewslettersBack to Newsletter IndexFebruary 2005WHAT'S NEW WITH US...
Sorry this is late! January was busy and it just rolled right into
February!
After the New Year, Mark's sister and her family came to visit. We had
a lot of fun and packed a lot of activity into two days! We went to a
South Carolina "Snow Fest". They made snow to go tubing down a "hill"
and they also had a "field of snow" which was more like an area of
snow. The kids had a great time anyway - I mean you are talking about
ex-New Yorkers who are used to FEET of snow! I certainly don't miss it
though - no, no! It was almost 80 degrees here yesterday! Now THAT'S
my kind of "winter"! Anyway, the Snow Fest also had rides, Kettle Corn
and other things, so we had a lot of fun. It benefited our local
Habitat for Humanity which was another good thing. Here is a picture of David and Victoria:
As I told you last month, I joined our church's Project Choir. We had
the opportunity to worship with another church and it was awesome! We
sang the Hallelujah Chorus again and it was well-received. Our children
were with us and the men helped load and unload all the sound
equipment. By the time we got out of there, it was 11:30 pm and we were
STARVING! Lucky for us, Perkins was open! We got home at 12:30 am, but
the kids were wide awake up to that point! Amazing! What a wonderful
night we had praising God!
We also had the opportunity to do some drama through our church's Drama
Ministry. We visited another new, small, but ON FIRE church, which had
many different churches represented. Many people sang, we did a couple
of dramas and Victoria, our 8-year-old, was able to participate in more
interpretive movement. She really enjoyed it. All the little girls
were so cute and made everyone cry - especially me! (At which my family
laughed!)
My Ladies Homemaking Group is going really well. I am learning how to
crochet. It's fun and I can't wait to see my first completed project -
a baby blanket gift! These past couple of months we have quilted, sewn,
made soaps, candies, shared homemade gift ideas and a lot more. I am
looking forward to the summer. We will be doing some canning and
gardening. This weekend we are going on a field trip to a quilting
shop, lunch and A.C. Moore. (Don't forget, A.C. Moore gives 10% teacher
discounts - including homeschoolers) Here is a picture of us making
some Valentine candies:
I have been praying about getting involved with our church choir on a
regular basis and kept asking, "God, is it worth my time? Does it
matter that my single voice is barely being heard among the other choir
members? How is this serving others for You? They wouldn't miss me if
I didn't join." Well, God told me, in the middle of the night - I am
not singing to serve others! I am singing to serve Him - to praise and
worship God - the way 'I' love to praise and worship God and the way He
loves for me to praise and worship Him! It's not about the other
people! It's about me and God, period. It was like a big bang on my
head! I believe that He wanted me to join and He is blessing me for
being obedient. (see my praise below about the piano!)
ANNOUNCEMENTS
THIS WEEKEND!!! Little Bear is coming to Summerville, South
Carolina!! If you are interested in seeing Rev. Richard
"Little Bear" Wheeler, and live near this area, you won't want to miss
him! He will be preaching at Crossroads Community Church on February
25th and 26th, 2005. If you would like more information, visit our web
site. We had the
opportunity to host Little Bear when we lived in New York. Now we are
thrilled to have him visit us here in South Carolina!
Charleston, SC Aquarium
We decided to buy a Membership for our family. If you live in the
Charleston, SC area, it may be worth it for your family too. If you
have never been there, you don't have to decide immediately if you'd
like to buy a Membership. You can apply your admission fee towards
your family. For example, we paid $30 for just two people to get in
and the Year-Long Family Membership is only $80. Therefore, we only
had to pay $50. If we go just one more time this year, it will have
paid for itself. We always take our family/tourists there, so I'm
sure we'll be back! If you'd like to see more information about the
aquarium, here is their link:
